Black Theatre – The Little Mermaid in 2008

Director: Bojan Baric Costume, Set and Puppet Designer: Kirsi Manninen In the photo there you can see Satu Rekola as The Little Mermaid, but there are also 4 puppet actors: Anna Pelkonen, Satu Paavola, Antti Silvennoinen and Sakari Männistö with their Mermaid sister puppets. Because of the black theater ´s illusion, these actors and actresses are invisible. Black theater is rarely done in Finland and know-how was hard available. During the design process I made a huge amount of research and experimental work, so that I managed to get the right products and materials and I received fabrics to glow under UV light.
